Our Reach

addressing stigma

Stigma can discourage individuals from seeking help due to fear of rejection or discrimination. By challenging stereotypes and promoting compassion, we can create a more supportive environment for individuals living with substance use disorders. Demystifying treatment and recovery helps reduce barriers to care, encouraging people to seek help and ultimately minimizing overdoses and deaths.

In collaboration with Effct.org, the Region 5 OAC launched Community Compass, an anti-stigma and education campaign rooted in regional community engagement. The campaign collected local data on behaviors and attitudes toward substance use in Region 5 and developed a website to showcase geographically and culturally relevant resources and personal stories.

In collaboration with High Rockies Harm Reduction, Region 5 is expanding harm reduction services across all five counties. These initiatives aim to reduce the risks associated with substance use while connecting individuals to critical health services.
